Patient Care Attendant

About the role

VCA Spring Branch Animal Hospital is seeking a full-time Patient Care Attendant to join their team. They are looking for an individual who is positive, energetic, eager to learn, and works well on a team.

Responsibilities

• Restraining animals for doctors and technicians
• Administering medications under the supervision of the technician
• Aiding in obtaining lab samples
• Running labs on in-house machines (including troubleshooting)
• Monitoring hospitalized patients during treatments and post-surgery recovery
• Surgical pack preparation
• Cleaning kennels and replacing bedding for hospitalized patients
• Offering food and water to hospitalized patients under the supervision of the technician
• Walking hospitalized patients under the supervision of the technician
• Assisting with sedated or anesthetized procedures as needed (set up and break down, cleaning, moving patients in and out of operating rooms, etc.)
• Performing general cleaning duties inside and outside the hospital, including laundry, sweeping/mopping, restocking medical supplies, and maintaining medical equipment
• Performing other duties as assigned

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and be able to effectively communicate in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience working in a veterinary setting preferred
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to lift and move patients
• Basic computer skills
