Location: Singing River Pascagoula Hospital
Responsibilities
- Provide basic nursing care (personal and restorative care) to patients according to predefined guidelines and a plan of care established by a Registered Nurse or LPN.
- Work under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse or LPN.
- Utilize CDC Guidelines for Infection Control and the Singing River Health System Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services.
- Ensure all performed duties are in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health care employees.
Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; successful completion of a Nurse Assistant/Aide program preferred.
- License: N/A.
- Certification: Current Certified Nursing Assistant certification recognized by the State of Mississippi Department of Health preferred (CNA Certification required upon hire for SNF unit; apprentices transferring to SNF allowed 120 days to schedule skills exam, otherwise removed from SNF unit).
- Must complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
- Must have de‑escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days) and maintain appropriate level of de‑escalation training.
- Experience: Equivalent related work experience or completion of a Nurse Aide program required.
- Physical demands: Moderately active work involving sitting with frequent movement about the office/facility, travel to other facilities within SRHS service area; negligible force to lift/carry/push/pull objects including the human body; many physical motions; exposure to body fluids, sputum, tissues (infectious disease hazard); repetitive wrist/hand/finger motions using standard office equipment; ability to perceive normal speech sounds and make fine sound discriminations; close visual acuity and ability to shift focus between monitor and printed material; ability to remain active for extended periods without undue fatigue.
- Mental demands: Keen mental faculties/assessment and decision‑making; superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills; strong written and verbal communication; emotional stability for high stress; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; attention to detail and multi‑tasking in complex situations; ability to maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations.
