About the role
The Patient Care Associate plays a crucial role in the clinical care team, supporting registered nurses in various areas such as inpatient units, emergency departments, surgical services, and intensive care units. This position involves assisting patients with daily activities, collecting specimens, performing procedures, maintaining a clean environment, and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Functions as a member of a multidisciplinary care team, providing comprehensive patient care services.
- Assists with patient admission and orientation, gathering and recording relevant data.
- Maintains patient safety and cleanliness, ensuring adherence to unit rules and regulations.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans, including therapeutic interventions.
- Performs direct care tasks such as therapeutic interventions, vital sign monitoring, specimen collection, personal hygiene, and activities of daily living.
- Organizes and prioritizes multiple patient care activities efficiently.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-2 years of current experience as a Patient Care Assistant (PCA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant, Phlebotomist, Finger-stick technician, or EKG technician preferred.
- BLS certification (American Heart Association) required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills essential.
- Ability to maintain a professional, courteous, and respectful attitude towards patients and their families.
