About the role

Responsible for assisting patients with activities of daily living, providing basic care to acutely ill patients. Assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment. Performs EKGs and venipuncture as directed by the Registered Nurse.

Requirements

Minimum requirements for the job:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support certification within 6 months of hire
  • PCA/PCT (Patient Care Associate/Patient Care Technician) diploma with 6 months to 1 year of previous work experience within the last 6 months in a healthcare setting
  • OR Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
  • OR PCA/PCT certification
  • OR EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) certification
  • OR Enrolled in an accredited nursing school program and has completed Nursing Fundamentals level 1 coursework in lieu of PCA/PCT diploma/certification
  • OR Provides evidence of completion in Nursing Fundamental level coursework
  • OR Evidence of completion in a Nursing Assistant training program
  • OR PCA/PCT, Home Health Aide, or CMA experience

Effective January 2019, St. Joseph’s Health requires certifications for Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) to be granted through the American Heart Association.

About The Team

St. Joseph’s University Medical Center is an academic tertiary care medical center and state-designated trauma center, located on the Paterson campus. It regularly accepts referrals of difficult or unusual cases from other hospitals and physicians and performs both complex and routine procedures. The Medical Center offers a full complement of specialty and subspecialty services including ambulatory, behavioral health, cardiovascular, emergency/trauma, internal medicine, neuroscience, oncology, orthopedic/spine, rehabilitation, surgical specialty, women’s health, imaging, and pediatrics.

Pay

St. Joseph’s Health provides a salary range to comply with New Jersey Law. The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, and skills. The salary range does not include incentives, differential pay, or other forms of compensation.
