Patient Care Associate - James Radiation Oncology - First Shift

About the role

The Patient Care Associate (PCA) functions as an integral member of a team of care providers on a patient care unit, reflecting a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The team, consisting of the Registered Nurse and the Patient Care Associate, provides patient care and supportive services aimed at achieving patient care outcomes, enhancing patient involvement in their care plans, improving service levels, and reducing costs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Support patient care activities by assisting with tasks such as medication administration, patient monitoring, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety by maintaining a clean and organized environment.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and families to provide emotional support and answer questions.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous patient care experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
  • Strong customer service, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Successful completion of PCA training course required after hire.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Passion for providing compassionate and high-quality patient care.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.

Skills

  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Proficiency in using hospital information systems.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and patient care protocols.
