Patient Care Assistant - PCA

About the role

Visiting Angels in Marble Falls is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to provide compassionate, in‑home care to seniors throughout the Highland Lakes area, including Llano, Mason, Burnet, Kingsland, Buchanan Dam, and surrounding communities. The PCA will act as a companion and support person, helping clients with daily living activities, light housekeeping, meal preparation, mobility, and transportation. The position offers opportunities for personal growth, including advanced training in dementia and Alzheimer’s care.

Responsibilities

• Help clients take prescribed medication.
• Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (e.g., doctor’s appointments, walks).
• Provide personal care and hygiene assistance.
• Guide clients through routine exercises.
• Plan and prepare meals, accommodating dietary constraints and client abilities.
• Shop for clients or accompany them while shopping.
• Perform light housekeeping duties that clients cannot complete on their own.
• Serve as a pleasant and supportive companion.
• Report any unusual incidents promptly.
• Act quickly and responsibly in emergencies.

Requirements

• Passion for serving others and a true caregiver mindset.
• Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid.
• Familiarity with housekeeping activities and cooking, with attention to dietary constraints.
• Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
