Patient Care Assistant - PCA

Join Visiting Angels’ Athens office and make a meaningful difference in your community by providing compassionate care to senior adults and those in need. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in home or elderly care, a history of community involvement, and a big heart. As a Patient Care Assistant (PCA), you’ll support seniors in Athens and surrounding areas—including Greensboro, Woodville, Greshambille, Madison, Farmington, Maxeys, Bishop, and more—with daily tasks and companionship. This position offers opportunities for personal growth, including advanced training in dementia and Alzheimer’s care.

Responsibilities

• Help clients take prescribed medication
• Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (e.g., doctor’s appointments, walks)
• Support clients with personal care and hygiene
• Assist clients with routine exercises
• Plan and prepare meals with clients (when they are able to participate)
• Perform grocery shopping or accompany clients while they shop
• Complete light housekeeping duties clients can’t manage on their own
• Provide pleasant and supportive companionship
• Report any unusual incidents
• Act quickly and responsibly in emergencies

Requirements

• Passion for serving others—a true caregiver mindset
• Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid
• Familiarity with housekeeping activities and cooking, with attention to dietary constraints
• Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards
• Respectful, compassionate, and ethical approach to care
• Strong time management skills
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
• Physical endurance for caregiving tasks
• High school diploma or equivalent
