PRN (As Needed) position for the 7 Medical Unit, working 7:00pm to 7:30am onsite. PRN staff must work a minimum of 36 hours in a 6-week schedule with 12 hours on the weekends.
Responsibilities
- Provide continuous, one-on-one observation and monitoring of assigned patients.
- Provide evidence-based de-escalation interventions.
- Maintain a safe environment for self, patients, and others.
- Remain alert and attentive at all times to ensure the safety and well-being of the patient.
- Provide direct patient care such as vital signs and transporting patients to other departments as delegated by and under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Stock linens and supplies.
- Document observations, interventions, and any pertinent information accurately and in a timely manner within EPIC.
- Prioritize and execute tasks for the assigned patients in a timely and efficient manner.
- Alert nursing staff promptly to any signs of distress, discomfort, or changes in the patient's condition.
- Maintain a calm and professional presence for the patient and their family members.
- Follow all hospital or facility protocols and procedures related to patient observation and safety.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) training from the American Heart Association is required.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience in medical terminology preferred.
- Experience working in a healthcare environment is preferred.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.
- Experience working in an electronic medical record (i.e., EPIC) or similar software is preferred.
