About the role
As a Patient Care Assistant, you will work under the direction of a Registered Nurse to assist in the delivery of patient care including personal hygiene and daily activities, transporting patients and equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and reordering/stocking of supplies.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate communications and procedures for the nursing unit
- Process electronic orders
- Assemble patient’s charts and other necessities
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, in progress, and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry
- Equivalent work experience in lieu of HS diploma or equivalent may be considered
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and communication skills with a customer-service orientation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Demonstrates basic computers skills or the ability to achieve proficiency within 3 months
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with patients, visitors, and co-workers
- Ability to independently initiate appropriate tasks within the scope of practice of the position
- Ability to provide individualized care and respond to a variety of patient/family preferences
- Ability to provide an exceptional patient experience utilizing strong customer service skills
- Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively
- Current BLS – American Heart Association or BLS – American Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer & Health Care Provider)
Preferred Qualifications
- CNA experience
- HUC or unit clerk experience
- Microsoft office experience
- Prior experience in acute care or hospital setting
Skills
Knowledge of pre and post-op surgical/orthopedic and general medical patients
Knowledge and care in the use of all specialized orthopedic equipment
Knowledge of routine order sets in Epic
