Patient Care Assistant II

Full-time, 12-hour day shifts in the Medical Surgical department at Harlingen Medical Center – Harlingen, TX.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and toileting.
• Help with mobility, including turning, repositioning, and transferring patients to prevent skin breakdown.
• Feed patients who need assistance and monitor intake/output.
• Take and record vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration).
• Observe and report changes in a patient’s condition to nurses.
• Assist with wound care under the direction of an RN.
• Stock and maintain supplies in patient rooms; ensure the environment stays clean and safe.
• Assist in transporting patients within the hospital.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current Certification in Patient Care required (M.A. / CNA / EMT / Paramedic / Patient Care Tech, etc.).
• Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate upon hire (preferred and must maintain current).
• Current BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire (must maintain current).
• Six months previous experience as Monitor Technician (preferred).
• Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire (preferred).
• Current EKG certification upon hire (preferred).
• Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office (preferred).
