Patient Care Assistant I - Primary Care

About the Role

The Patient Care Assistant I provides clinical and front office support in a primary care setting, assisting with patient interactions, documentation, and basic clinical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients professionally and manage registration, scheduling, and communication between patients and providers.
• Document patient information, test results, and care activities accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Assist with patient care activities, including obtaining vital signs, collecting patient history, and performing point-of-care testing under supervision.
• Participate in ongoing education, training, and competency validation to support clinical readiness.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant clinical environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; healthcare-related program enrollment or recent completion preferred.
• Prior customer service or healthcare experience is advantageous.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Medical Assistant certification must be obtained within one year.
• Strong communication, organizational skills, and adherence to clinical standards are essential.
