Patient Care Assistant Department: Emergency - Our Chelsea Emergency Department has experienced physicians and nurses with advanced training in emergency medicine that provide care 365 days a year in the 24-hour Emergency Department. More than 18,000 patients are treated each year for emergencies ranging from life threatening cardiac arrests and strokes, to major injuries and accidents, to more minor injuries. Facilities include a five bay observation center for observation and testing before returning home, as well as 20 private exam rooms adding a greater degree of privacy for patients.

Position Purpose

Exceptional opportunity for a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to support our vision and serve with us as a compassionate and transforming healing presence in our community. The PCA, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care. Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success. Patient Care Assistant’s provide continuous observation and monitoring of assigned patients. Notifies nursing staff if the patient requires assistance, control, or other nursing intervention. Knowledgeable and supportive of patients, the confidentiality of HIPAA protected information, and other related hospital policies. The PCA assists patient in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection. They are responsible to record patient information and required data in appropriate areas to meet documentation requirements. Shift Available: 12 Hour Day Shift Status Available: Part time, benefit eligible (48 hours per pay period – every two weeks) Every 3rd Weekend rotation and holiday requirements Required Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or a minimum of 18 years of age. Recent experience desired. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance, lifting greater than 35 pounds using mechanical assistance
