Patient Care Assistant

About the role

Location: Dick Conner Correctional Center. This is an on‑site position and is not eligible for remote work.

Responsibilities

• Perform direct nursing tasks including taking vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living and hygiene needs, and obtaining certain lab specimens.
• Chart observations and activities, reporting pertinent changes in the patient’s condition.
• Perform delegated or other specialized functions as educationally prepared.
• Escort patients to and from various destinations.
• Assist in maintaining and providing a clean, safe environment.
• Order, receive and store supplies and perform basic clerical functions.
• Participate in follow‑up activities and tracking clients, schedule appointments and perform other related tasks.
• Provide case finding and recruitment of at‑risk persons for comprehensive health services.

Requirements

• Current certification in good standing by the Oklahoma State Department of Health as a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) – required for all levels.
• Level I: No education or experience required.
• Level II: One year of experience in providing patient care.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the English language to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to record observations and activities, follow oral and written directions, and establish/maintain effective working relationships.
• For Level II additionally: knowledge of public health services, record keeping, interviewing techniques, basic nursing practices, sanitation and personal hygiene, medical terminology; ability to apply basic nursing techniques.

Skills

Effective communication, observation recording, direction following, relationship building, basic nursing techniques (Level II), supply ordering and clerical tasks, patient escort, vital sign measurement, specimen collection, charting.

Pay

• Level I: $41,600.00 (non‑negotiable)
• Level II: $45,760.00 (non‑negotiable)

Schedule

Full‑time regular position.
