Responsibilities

  • Receives verbal/written assignments from RN/LPN
  • Assists patients with activities of Daily Living
  • Reports any changes in patient condition to RN/LPN
  • Maintains clean and neat stocked areas and patient rooms
  • Cleans equipment between each patient use
  • Operates unit equipment as required
  • Assists with and accompanies patients on admission, discharge, and transfer
  • Answers patient call lights promptly
  • Keeps hallway clear of equipment
  • Distributes water and ice
  • Maintains 24-hour urine collections
  • Performs catheter checks and blood glucose monitoring
  • Takes and records vital signs and weight
  • Records accurate intake and output (to include NG, chest tube, ostomy bags, foley, etc.)
  • Singles/initials documentation
  • Documents patient turns and repositioning
  • Reports any skin condition to RN
  • Assists with completion of daily flow sheet
  • Responds to overhead pages
  • Participates in orientation of new employees as assigned
  • Accesses and accurately maintains electronic and paper medical records
  • Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
  • Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
  • Regular and prompt attendance
  • Able to work schedule as defined and overtime as required

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education
  • Required Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association upon hire
  • Required Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements

Additional Information

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
