Responsibilities
- Receives verbal/written assignments from RN/LPN
- Assists patients with activities of Daily Living
- Reports any changes in patient condition to RN/LPN
- Maintains clean and neat stocked areas and patient rooms
- Cleans equipment between each patient use
- Operates unit equipment as required
- Assists with and accompanies patients on admission, discharge, and transfer
- Answers patient call lights promptly
- Keeps hallway clear of equipment
- Distributes water and ice
- Maintains 24-hour urine collections
- Performs catheter checks and blood glucose monitoring
- Takes and records vital signs and weight
- Records accurate intake and output (to include NG, chest tube, ostomy bags, foley, etc.)
- Singles/initials documentation
- Documents patient turns and repositioning
- Reports any skin condition to RN
- Assists with completion of daily flow sheet
- Responds to overhead pages
- Participates in orientation of new employees as assigned
- Accesses and accurately maintains electronic and paper medical records
- Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
- Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
- Regular and prompt attendance
- Able to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education
- Required Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association upon hire
- Required Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements

Additional Information
Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
