Patient Care Assistant 1 (PRN)

Responsibilities

• Makes rounds on patients on an hourly basis, assessing and responding to patient and family needs in a timely, caring, and respectful manner.
• Ensures call light is within reach of patients and blackjack cable is connected, responds to it promptly, and directs requests to appropriate personnel.
• Ensures rooms are stocked with essential patient care supplies.
• Aids in perineal care under the direction of the patient’s clinical team.
• Organizes personal items in their room, passes linens/water/ice, and sits and visits with the patients.
• Assists nursing staff with obtaining supplies and equipment to facilitate patient care.
• Assists with room set up for new admissions.
• Assists nursing support staff during feeding times by bringing and returning the passing out meal trays to patients.
• Sits with patients who need constant supervision to prevent harm.
• Transports patients to inpatient rooms, radiology, and other areas in a hospital setting.
• Obtains vital signs on patients every 2 hours and as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
