About the role
Visiting Angels of Baytown is hiring a Patient Care Aide - PCA to support senior adults in their homes across the local area, including Anahuac, Mont Belvieu, Baytown, Dayton, Liberty, and surrounding communities.
A Patient Care Aide - PCA helps elderly and home-care clients maintain dignity while staying or recovering at home. Responsibilities vary by client but may include personal care, light housekeeping, exercise encouragement, medication reminders, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and mobility assistance. PCAs must also respond quickly to medical emergencies and report any health changes or unusual circumstances.
Responsibilities
- Helping clients handle personal care and hygiene
- Managing light housekeeping
- Encouraging clients to meet their exercise and fitness goals
- Prompting clients to take their prescription medications at the right times
- Helping clients with shopping and putting away groceries (or shopping for them)
- Planning and preparing meals in collaboration with clients (based on client ability)
- Assisting clients with mobility and ambulation, including getting around the house, visiting the doctor, and taking walks
- Acting quickly in medical emergencies and reporting health changes or unusual circumstances
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent time-management skills
- Reliable transportation to client visits
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
- Training/knowledge in First Aid and emergency response
- A heart for vulnerable people seeking meaningful companionship
- Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards
