Patient Care Aide - Acute Medical Care Unit II - PRN - 1st Shift
About the role
The Patient Care Aide(PCA) works under the direction of the RN/LPN. The responsibilities of the Patient Care Aide include providing direct patient care and maintaining patient care standards.
Responsibilities
- Provides basic nursing care to patients within the Patient Care Aide scope of practice that includes actions that meet psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and physical needs.
- Affords assistance in admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
- Explains to patients and families prior to administering care to patients; answers questions within scope of practice.
- Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and capability to function under stressful situations.
- Responds to patients in emergency or physically distressful situations.
- Documentation meets current standards and policies.
- Assumes accountability for appropriate utilization of resources.
- Performs other duties as assigned, within the Patient Care Aide’s scope of practice.
Requirements
- High School/GED completion.
- BLS required before the conclusion of the orientation period.

Exhibits the ability to work with people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds; to organize, set priorities and manage multiple priorities, and to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
