Patient Care Advocate - Ochsner Specialty Pharmacy Baton Rouge - Full Time

Job Summary

We're looking for a Pharmacy Technician to join our team. This role works closely with the specialty pharmacy team, referring doctors, nursing staff, and care coordinators to ensure patients receive timely access to their prescribed medications. You'll also assist with special projects and committees.

Responsibilities

• Completes prior authorizations
• Enrolls under/uninsured patients to appropriate patient assistance programs
• Communicates and acts as liaison between insurance company, patients, providers, and specialty pharmacy team
• Maintains documentation relative to the job
• Assumes responsibility for professional development and continued education
• Assists with special projects/committees

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 2 years experience as a Pharmacy Technician
• Preferred: Experience in Specialty Pharmacy
• Certification Required: Pharmacy Technician Certification in the state of practice
• Certification Required: Medication Therapy Management Certification (MTM) from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)

Qualifications

• Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information
• Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Negotiation skills to assist the patient in navigating the health care system
• Ability to maintain highly confidential and sensitive information
• Ability to multitask
• Strong interpersonal skills
