Patient Blood Management Program Manager - Pre-Admission Testing

Responsibilities

• Works closely with the MD, Director of DH, AD of PAT, staff, and ancillary staff by assisting in the coordination of the medical, emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual needs for outpatients.
• Collaborates with the patient, patient’s family and/or healthcare agent, physician, nurses, and ancillary staff to assure a continuum of care for patients.
• Utilizes knowledge of human growth and development to assess, interpret data, and initiate and evaluate a plan of care appropriate for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
• Is knowledgeable about Blood Management by training and/or experience.
• Assures that patients’ rights and wishes to accept or decline blood transfusions are recognized, and appropriate Blood Management alternatives and techniques are employed.
• Serves as an Advanced Consultant to patients, families, and staff in the delivery of care to patients choosing to refuse consent for blood transfusions for religious and/or personal reasons.
• Provides support and educational materials specific to refusal to accept blood and assists patients in completing any necessary forms.
• Works closely with appropriate staff and ancillary departments to facilitate needed appointments/referrals and ensure effective communication and a smooth process throughout the surgical journey.
• Ensures that patients’ rights and privacy are maintained to a very high degree.
• Uses appropriate documentation to ensure collaboration of care among staff.
• Actively promotes, plans, develops, and implements growth initiatives regarding the position. Assists in the development and implementation of policies and processes as needed.
• Provides and maintains data on patients seen for review and seeks opportunities for improvement.
• Rounds on patients in Surgical waiting areas, DH, HA, and Endo to provide updates on progress.
• Maintains communication with staff, physicians, and family to facilitate correct and up-to-date information for patients and family members throughout the surgical journey.
