About the role
At Tennessee Cancer Specialists, you will educate patients on their insurance coverage and benefits, as well as any financial assistance programs available to them. As a Patient Benefits Representative, you will advocate for patients navigating a challenging time in their lives, using your organization and communication skills to support both patients and their families.
Responsibilities
- Explain insurance coverage, benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses to patients.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating respectfully and listening thoroughly to patients, coworkers, and other professionals.
- Advocate for patients by maintaining relationships with foundations and seeking additional financial assistance programs.
- Assist patients in completing financial forms and documentation, ensuring accurate and timely submission to the correct department.
- Collaborate seamlessly with other areas of the practice to provide accurate information to patients.
- Support additional tasks as needed with a proactive and helpful attitude.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and other relevant software.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, with lifting limited to 40 pounds or less.
- Manual dexterity, proper hand-eye coordination, and full range of motion (may include assisting with lifting patients).
- Corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Must live in the Knoxville area or be in the process of relocating (this role is fully onsite).
Qualifications
- Previous experience in oncology/hematology is a major benefit but not required.
- Bilingual skills are a major benefit but not required.
