About the role

Responsible for providing lead support to Supervisors and Managers within a specific market or region of client hospitals. Acts as mentor and trainer for new staff. Provides cross coverage for hospital-based Patient Advocates. Provides account level analysis for supervisors and hospitals.

Responsibilities

  • Assists market leadership with the review and documentation of employee work effort on account work and provides feedback to staff.
  • Assists market leadership with the compilation and analysis of various monthly reports. (I.e. Month End data, Aging, Trending, Cancellations, Inventory Reconciliations, facility census review, etc)
  • Interacts with various levels of facility administration to communicate various departmental needs or issues and act as liaison when attending or leading facility meetings.
  • Provides cross-coverage for assigned market facilities when a Patient Advocate is on vacation or ill. Cross-coverage includes, but is not limited to, traveling to facility, screening patients for government program eligibility, completing necessary paperwork with patients, documenting decisions made on referrals in automated systems and in required departmental paperwork.
  • Performs financial clearance function including collections.
  • Trains and mentors new hires on policies and procedures of the department, facility protocol, and various operating systems.
  • Reviews accounts that have been referred from the Patient Advocate for cancellation, where the patient may not have cooperated and/or are not eligible for a government program.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with guidelines, policies and procedures and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Working familiarity with the rules and regulations pertaining to Federal, State and County programs
  • P/C systems literate including Windows, and Micorsoft Outlook, Excel and Word programs
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to present to a group audience and lead a business meeting.
  • Detail oriented, with strengths in dealing with multiple facilities, Supervisors, and Hospital platforms
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with efficiency
  • Bi-lingual preferred (Spanish)

Education / Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years work experience with Social Services or Hospital Admitting or related area

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to walk through a hospital environment, including across broad campus settings and Emergency Department environments, and visit patients at bedside
  • Ability to travel

Work Environment

  • Both Hospital and Office facilities, in direct contact with Patients and Staff
