Our 382-bed hospital in North Miami Beach serves North Miami-Dade and South Broward, providing compassionate care and access to Jackson Health System’s world-class resources.

About the role

As a Patient Advocate, you will enhance the patient experience and promote continuity of care by assisting patients with scheduling follow-up care prior to discharge, educating them on the importance of follow-up visits, and supporting other care continuity initiatives within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Directly assist patients with scheduling appropriate follow-up visits before discharge from the emergency department.
  • Educate patients on the importance of follow-up care and active engagement in their care journey.
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility as needed.
  • Record basic data regarding each patient interaction, such as whether follow-up visits were scheduled.
  • Maintain a customer service-oriented, patient-centric attitude with strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Respond appropriately to a variety of personalities and situations while upholding patient confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Expertise).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (required).
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
  • Generally, 2 to 3 years of related experience.
  • Valid license or certification as needed for the role or specialty.

  • Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Professional composure and critical thinking in difficult or stressful situations.
  • Ability to follow instructions and exercise independent judgment.

Full-Time, Days, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
