Patient Admissions Specialist II-Admissions 80hrs Biweekly Eve/Night

Responsibilities

• Acts as a liaison for patients, supporting them through their financial journey by collaborating with providers and payers.
• Identifies financial opportunities for healthcare services and assists patients in achieving optimal healthcare coverage.
• Conducts interviews with patients to determine eligibility for Medicaid, HealthCare Exchange, and other financial assistance programs.
• Ensures bed reservations, patient admissions, and operating room and hospital procedures align with financial clearance expectations.
• Adheres to compliance and regulations regarding commercial, governmental, and third-party payers.
• Works with patients from a culturally diverse population, fostering open, professional, timely, courteous, and accurate communication.
• Supports the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The Metro Health System.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED equivalent
• One of the following: Associates Degree in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution
• Five years of experience in a healthcare and/or medical office setting with a minimum one-year experience in an admitting department including registration and insurance verification
• Possession of a current Certified Healthcare Access Association (CHAA) certification through the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM)
• Knowledge of Federal/State rules and regulations governing healthcare benefits, including understanding Joint Commission regulations, EMTALA provisions, and HIPAA compliance elements
• Professionalism, flexibility, organization, and sound judgment in making decisions independently
• Finger dexterity to operate office equipment, ability to communicate in various formats, and visual acuity to see computer monitors and departmental documents

Physical Requirements

• Sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day
• May need to sit or stand for extended periods
• See in the normal visual range with or without correction
• Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction
• Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required
• May need to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds on occasion
