Patient Account Representative - Medical Billing and Medical Insurance Claims

Location: UAB Avondale Business Center

Schedule

Monday–Friday, Days

Responsibilities

• Review patient accounts, research denied healthcare insurance claims, and complete necessary follow-up processes.
• Assist with billing and complete all business-related requests and correspondence from patients and/or insurance companies.
• Complete all assigned projects in a timely manner.

Requirements

Patient Account Representative

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 0–2 years of prior relevant experience and general knowledge of payer-specific or medical billing.

Patient Account Representative II

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of prior relevant experience and general knowledge of payer-specific or medical billing.

Qualifications

• Healthcare billing experience.
• Related experience and general knowledge of payor-specific or medical specialty billing.
• Previous experience working credit balance accounts and processing patient and insurance overpayments.
• Experience working with specialized insurance companies.
• Ability to evaluate complex situations; identify root cause and propose solutions.
• Experience working with UB04 and CMS 1500 claim forms, appeal and denials.
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding.
