Patient Account Representative

About the Role

We are seeking a Patient Account Representative to join our Revenue Cycle team in a self-pay, patient-facing role. The role focuses solely on inbound calls, customer service, and payment collection to ensure timely account resolution. Candidates should be prepared for a fast-paced environment and possess relevant healthcare billing or collections experience.

Responsibilities

• Answering inbound calls regarding billing, balances, and insurance coverage
• Explaining insurance concepts, EOBs, deductibles, and patient responsibilities empathetically
• Collecting payments or establishing payment plans
• Assisting patients with Financial Assistance applications
• Performing follow-up calls before accounts are referred to collections
• Making outbound collection calls as needed
• Documenting interactions accurately and updating patient information
• Managing call volume efficiently while maintaining quality care

Requirements

• Experience in healthcare billing, patient financial services, or collections (hospital or medical office preferred)
• Ability to clearly explain insurance details to non-clinical patients
• Empathy combined with collection-mindedness
• Effective communication skills and comfort with fast-paced inbound calls
• Knowledge of credit policies, HIPAA, and payer requirements
• Proficiency with PC and office systems

Pay

$24-25/hr
