Patient Account Representative

About the role
Reporting to the Patient Accounts Team Lead, the Patient Account Representative resolves inbound patient inquiries related to billing in a multi-channel contact center environment.
Responsibilities
- Monitor multi-channel inbound patient billing inquiries to ensure timely response and accurate resolutions
- Work with patients and insurance carriers to resolve patient billing inquiries
- Maintain individual and departmental goals including Average Handle Time, Service Level, Abandonment Rate, and Call Quality
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient information with a full understanding of HIPAA requirements
- Demonstrate flexibility to meet the needs of all internal and external customers, including changes to workflows, work volume, and work schedules
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 2-4 years in a healthcare environment required, preferably in billing, front office administration, or call center
- Ability to read and understand insurance EOBs
- Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to multi-task while maintaining high-quality patient interactions
- High School diploma or GED required
Working Conditions
- Standard office environment with occasional travel to corporate or office locations
- Potential exposure to stressful situations and emergency scenarios
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for 3-4 hours at a time
- Fine finger coordination required for typing
- Ability to speak clearly with team members so others can understand
- Ability to hear and understand others when speaking
- Ability to view computer screen monitor and small objects a few feet away

Pay
Estimated hourly pay range: $20.00–$22.00
