Patient Account Representative

After on-site training at our West Des Moines office (up to 90 days) is complete and competency in the process is established, this full-time (40-hour) position works remotely from within Iowa. You must be able to come into the office on short notice. Schedule is Monday through Friday.

About the role

As a Patient Account Representative, you will file, follow up on workers’ compensation insurance claims throughout the entire filing process, and apply or adjust payments for services. You will primarily communicate with insurance companies and provide support to patients who have questions about submitted claims.

Responsibilities

• Primarily handle workers’ compensation insurance claims, acting as the employer’s contact for insurance payments.
• Review claims and make any necessary adjustments before closing the claim file.
• Answer questions regarding workers’ compensation claims filed.
• Work remotely as part of a small, close-knit team of professionals.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of the billing process.
• Professional communication skills to calmly support employer, patient, and payer questions on incoming claims or payments.
• Ability to listen actively, ask clarifying questions, and avoid interrupting others.
• Self-directed focus with the judgment to know when to ask for help.
