Patient Account Representative

About the role

Cottage Health seeks a Patient Account Representative for their CH Patient Financial Services - Professional Billing department.

Responsibilities

• Work hospital/physician accounts to ensure they are resolved in a timely manner.
• Effectively perform (as applicable) charge reviews, retro-reviews, work account/claim edits in Cottage's EHR and follow-up on claim submission.
• Remittance review for insurance collections, pursue disputed balances and resolve credit balances from both government and non-government entities.
• Interface with internal revenue cycle departments and external payer organizations including Health Information Management, Case Management, review organizations, access/registration areas, and clinical departments.

Requirements

• Basic MS Word and Excel skills.
• 35 wpm keyboarding/typing speed.
• Basic math skills.

Qualifications

• Preferred: Some College Coursework in accounting, business administration, healthcare administration, health information management or management.
• Minimum: Successful completion of the Revenue Cycle Department Intern program, possession of Billing Certificate or 6+ months of medical office or patient access experience, working in a healthcare environment (such as doctor's office, patient registration, hospital/clinic billing or scheduling).
• Preferred: 1 year in a hospital/physician/clinic environment with knowledge of all billing and/or registration systems and types of medical coverage.

Skills

• Basic MS Word and Excel skills.
• Advanced user of MS Word, Excel and Outlook (preferred).

Pay for non-physician positions is determined based on related years of experience and internal equity. Eligible employees may also receive additional forms of compensation, including shift differentials, on-call pay, incentive pay, and bonus opportunities, where applicable.
