Responsibilities

• Interview patients or their representatives to obtain patient demographics.
• Secure insurance information, eligibility, benefits, and authorizations as applicable.
• Work closely with all facets of the Admitting department, including PBX operator functions and reception areas.
• Operate a computer to input and retrieve data.
• Communicate with diverse populations using age-specific techniques (neonatal, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle adults, and geriatrics).
• Maintain proficiency in medical terminology.
• Complete special projects or other assignments within specified timeframes.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or GED equivalent (required for all new hires effective 4/1/14).
• Customer service experience (required).
• Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative (preferred).
• Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred).
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet required timelines.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Pay

The reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $27.38 per hour. The exact starting compensation will be determined based on factors such as skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
