Patient Account Registrar

Department: Admitting
Facility: Prime Healthcare Mercy Medical
Location: Aurora, IL 60506
Schedule: Full‑Time, Nights, 6:30 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients or their representatives to obtain patient demographics.
• Secure insurance information, eligibility, benefits, and authorizations as applicable.
• Work closely with all facets of the Admitting department, including PBX operator function and reception areas.
• Operate a computer to input and retrieve data.
• Communicate with the population served using age‑specific techniques ranging from neonatal to geriatrics.
• Maintain proficiency in medical terminology.
• Complete special projects or other assignments within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multi‑task and prioritize to meet required timelines.
• Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Customer service experience required.
• High School diploma or GED equivalent (required for all new hires effective 4/1/14).

Pay

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, including wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $16.20 to $23.01. The exact starting compensation will be determined at the time of hire based on factors such as skill set, experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
