Harlingen Medical Center is a Level IV Trauma Designated hospital that specializes in Cardiovascular Service, Emergency Services, Neuroscience, Orthopedic Services, Radiology, Rehabilitation Services and Surgical Services. The hospital has provided high-quality “Patient Focused Care” to the residents of Western Cameron County for more than 15 years. Responsibilities
- Interview the patient or their representative to obtain patient demographics.
- Secure insurance information, eligibility, benefits, and authorizations as applicable.
- Work closely with all facets of the Admitting department, including PBX operator function and reception areas.
- Operate a computer to input and retrieve data.
- Communicate with the population served, utilizing age-specific techniques from neonatal, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle adult to geriatrics.
- Maintain proficiency in medical terminology.
- Complete special projects or other assignments within specified timeframes.
Requirements
- Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs, and meet required timelines.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Customer service experience required.
- High School Graduate or GED Equivalent (required for all new hires effective 4/1/14).
Schedule
Full Time, variable shift.
