Responsibilities
- Interview the patient or their representative to obtain patient demographics.
- Secure insurance information, eligibility, benefits, and authorizations as applicable.
- Work closely with all facets of the Admitting department, including PBX operator function and reception areas.
- Operate a computer to input and retrieve data.
- Communicate with the population served, utilizing age-specific techniques from neonatal, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle adult to geriatrics.
- Maintain proficiency in medical terminology.
- Complete special projects or other assignments within specified timeframes.
Requirements
- Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs, and meet required timelines.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Customer service experience required.
- High School Graduate or GED equivalent (required for all new hires effective 4/1/14).
Pay
The reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $23.00 per hour. The exact starting compensation will be determined based on factors such as skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
Schedule
Per Diem, variable shift.
