Patient Access Specialist (PRN)

About the role
This is an entry-level career opportunity offering bonus incentives, paid certifications, tuition reimbursement, comprehensive benefits, and career advancement. This position is an onsite role at Tower - Pottstown Hospital in Pottstown, PA.
Responsibilities
- Perform admitting duties for all patients, including assigning accurate MRNs, completing medical necessity/compliance checks, providing patient instructions, collecting insurance information, processing physician orders, and utilizing an overlay tool.
- Operate the telephone switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls as applicable.
- Adhere to policies and provide excellent customer service with compassion.
- Meet point of service goals as assigned.
- Utilize quality auditing and reporting systems to correct accounts, including audits for other employees, departments, and facilities.
- Pre-register patient accounts prior to visits, including inbound/outbound calling to obtain demographic, insurance, and financial information, and collect point-of-service payments and past-due balances.
- Explain and obtain signatures for general consent for treatment forms and distribute patient education documents (e.g., Important Message from Medicare, MOON form, ABN).
- Review insurance eligibility responses and enter benefit data to support clean claim rates.
- Screen for medical necessity using ABN software and inform Medicare patients of potential non-payment.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- 1+ years of customer service experience.
- Must be inquisitive and demonstrate openness to innovation, including AI, to improve processes and patient/client experiences.
Qualifications
- CRCR certification required within 9 months of hire (company-paid).
Pay
This position starts at $17.00 - $18.15/hr based on experience.
