Patient Access Specialist II

About the role

The Patient Access Specialist II manages administrative duties related to the patient intake process, adhering to established guidelines and procedures. They serve as a key point of contact for patients, ensuring efficient scheduling, accurate registration, and a seamless, high-quality patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Interact with patients in person and by phone to support check-in and check-out processes
• Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments in alignment with provider guidelines and availability
• Collect and update patient demographic and insurance information to ensure accurate registration and billing
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits to reduce claim denials and reimbursement delays
• Collect co-pays and applicable payments at the time of service
• Process referrals and authorizations according to clinic and payer requirements
• Respond to patient inquiries with clear, professional communication

Requirements

• One year of customer service work experience is required.
• Healthcare environment experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Maintain a working knowledge of insurance processes, billing practices, and medical terminology
• Effectively navigate Epic systems, including scheduling and registration tools
• Manage multiple tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with patients, providers, and care teams

Pay

The posted compensation range of $25.10 - $36.55 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 9:30am-6:00pm with occasional weekends required.
