About the role
This position supports setting up Telehealth visits for NYS Dept of Corrections clients with Albany Medical Center Emergency Medicine Providers. The role involves processing incoming referrals, acting as a liaison between the ED provider and DOCCS, setting up Webex meetings, and maintaining an appointment calendar. The position operates weekdays and includes evenings and nights, with weekends covering day, evening, and overnight shifts, including holidays.
Responsibilities
- Supports setting up Telehealth visits for NYS Dept of Corrections clients with Albany Medical Center Emergency Medicine Providers.
- Processes incoming referrals and acts as a liaison between the ED provider and DOCCS.
- Sets up Webex meetings and maintains an appointment calendar.
- Uses eligibility application to invoke request to verify insurance eligibility, interprets responses, and captures appropriate health insurance information.
- Applies contractual benefits to the service being rendered and discusses payment responsibility with patients.
- Collects financial responsibility from patients based on eligibility responses or estimates for services.
- Works with Nursing Supervision and Patient Triage Manager for accurate bed assignments for inpatients and observations.
- Manages decedents, ensuring accurate completion of death certificates and timely coordination of body release to Funeral Homes.
Requirements
- Associates degree preferred.
- CHAA certification (or acquired within 2 years of hire).
- Strong computer skills.
- 5 years of hospital or physician office experience preferred.
- Strong insurance knowledge, including payer contract interpretation and authorization requirements.
- Ability to understand and apply contractual benefits to services rendered.
- Ability to manage pressure and handle high patient volumes.
- Experience using an ADT system and interpreting patient insurance benefits.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to exceed expectations.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to remain composed under pressure and make quick decisions.
- Good judgment and resourcefulness in problem-solving.
- Ability to communicate sensitive financial concepts to patients.
