Patient Access Representative Senior
Principle Responsibilities
- Greets and welcomes patient in person.
- Collects demographic and insurance information.
- Checks in and interviews patient to complete appropriate paperwork.
- Documents any issues and resolutions in electronic medical record.
- Uses resources, tools and procedure to complete registration for complex accounts.
- May assist in scheduling add-on appointments.
- Verifies eligibility and benefits information for payers and interprets results focusing on complex billing situations.
- Obtains cost information and explains information to patient if necessary.
- Collects co-pay or deductibles.
- Aids and counsels patient with application process for available financial assistance programs.
- Provides technical or functional direction for employees.
- Mentors new staff.
- Uses resources, tools and procedures to complete accounts in assigned work queues.
- Aids patient in completion of request for information forms and submits to appropriate department.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description.
- 2 to 5 years of revenue cycle or healthcare insurance experience.
- 2 to 5 years of customer service experience.
- 0 to 2 years of experience using computer including an electronic medical record, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- 0 to 2 years of general office experience.
- 0 to 2 years of experience as a Patient Access Representative.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Associate's or Vocational degree.
- Licenses/Certifications: Certified Application Counselors, State of Minnesota - MNSure Licensure upon hire preferred.
Physical Demands
- Light Work: Lifting weight up to 20 lbs. occasionally, up to 10 lbs. frequently.
- This position requires 3 weeks of on-site training scheduled Monday through Friday with 8 hour day shifts.
- FTE 0.7 (56 hours per two week pay period).
- 8-hour day/evening shift.
- Would prefer hospital experience in finance and /or registration.
Pay Range
Pay Range: $24.32 to $32.97 per hour.
