Job Summary

Affords assistance in coordinating activities between scheduling, insurance verification, and pre-certification. Serves as a clinical liaison with physician practices, engaging in pre-visit services.

Pre-registers/Registers Patients

  • Accurately collects patient demographic and financial data
  • Verifies insurance coverage and ensures all requirements are met
  • Obtains prior authorizations and referrals as necessary
  • Manages daily appointment schedules, including making reminder calls and contacting referrals
  • May transport patients using escort or wheeled transport equipment

Collects Patient Balances

  • Collects patient balances, co-payments, co-insurance, or other payment types

Responds to Customer Inquiries

  • Provides responses to customer inquiries
  • Assists with departmental coverage as needed

Care Delivery and Outpatient Clinics: A strong background in customer service may be considered in lieu of medical office or related experience.

Working Conditions

  • Operates computer and other office equipment
  • Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
  • Sedentary work
  • Primarily operates in an office environment
  • Communicates and exchanges accurate information
  • Close visual acuity required for tasks such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading

What You Bring

  • High School Diploma preferred or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of medical office or related customer service experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Medical Terminology and CPT/ICD-10 coding (preferred)
  • Knowledge of insurance process and regulations (preferred)
  • Ability to manage conflict effectively and professionally (required)
  • Excellent time management skills, emphasizing meeting time-sensitive deadlines (required)
  • Good customer service skills and interpersonal skills (required)
