Patient Access Representative (Outpatient Clinic)

Newberry Health is seeking a full‑time Patient Access Representative for its Outpatient Clinic. The position is based in Newberry County, SC, at a 90‑bed, acute‑care, independent, not‑for‑profit hospital recognized with the Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval. The role supports a community‑focused environment and contributes to high‑quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patient appointments.
• Collect and verify demographic and financial data, ensuring accurate entry into the database.
• Verify insurance coverage and benefits using online eligibility tools or telephone inquiries.
• Obtain required signatures and complete necessary forms and documents while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
• Receive payments, issue receipts, and work toward collection goals, maintaining cash funds and verification logs.
• Prepare and distribute reports, documents, and patient identification items as required, ensuring timely and accurate communication.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
• Two years of experience in admissions, billing, collections, insurance, and/or customer service (strongly preferred).
• Basic computer skills, knowledge of office equipment, and proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and database management (required).
