About the Role
This role supports departmental efficiency by performing tasks such as patient scheduling, registration, pre-admission, admission, reception, and discharge functions. The representative ensures accurate collection of patient demographics and employs compliant techniques for patient liability collection before, during, and after services.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients, complete registration, and explain and secure legal forms
- Scan Protected Health Information (PHI)
- Assist with scheduling diagnostic procedures
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain authorizations
- Coordinate post-discharge care as needed
- Provide exceptional customer service and complete patient registration
- Educate patients on financial liabilities and employ compliant collection techniques
- Verify insurance, secure authorizations, and verify medical necessity
- Assist with scheduling, documentation, and post-discharge coordination
- Maintain compliance standards and build collaborative relationships with patients and internal staff
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 0-1 year customer service or administrative experience in healthcare preferred
- Minimum typing speed of 35 wpm
- Knowledge of PC/CRT/printer; hospital environment knowledge preferred
- Strong customer service, communication, and negotiation skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and interpret medical and insurance information
- Physical ability to sit, stand, and lift up to 25 lbs.
