About the Role

This role supports departmental efficiency by performing tasks such as patient scheduling, registration, pre-admission, admission, reception, and discharge functions. The representative ensures accurate collection of patient demographics and employs compliant techniques for patient liability collection before, during, and after services.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients, complete registration, and explain and secure legal forms
  • Scan Protected Health Information (PHI)
  • Assist with scheduling diagnostic procedures
  • Verify insurance coverage and obtain authorizations
  • Coordinate post-discharge care as needed
  • Provide exceptional customer service and complete patient registration
  • Educate patients on financial liabilities and employ compliant collection techniques
  • Verify insurance, secure authorizations, and verify medical necessity
  • Assist with scheduling, documentation, and post-discharge coordination
  • Maintain compliance standards and build collaborative relationships with patients and internal staff

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 0-1 year customer service or administrative experience in healthcare preferred
  • Minimum typing speed of 35 wpm
  • Knowledge of PC/CRT/printer; hospital environment knowledge preferred
  • Strong customer service, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and interpret medical and insurance information
  • Physical ability to sit, stand, and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Flexibility in work hours to meet departmental needs
