Job Summary

The primary responsibility of this position is to greet all that enter the building, determine the nature of business, and provide assistance. Additionally, the position schedules surgery and special procedures with physician's offices and completes insurance verification.

Position Duties

  • Call all patients scheduled for surgery preoperatively, verify their demographics and insurance information.
  • Reviews the appropriate admissions forms with patients via phone and obtain consents to treat.
  • Reviews financial obligations on call and collects monies if needed.
  • Calls patients the day before surgery and collects any monies due that haven’t been paid in advance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • To function efficiently as a member of the surgery center team.
  • Provides assistance to team members, physicians, and anesthesia personnel as needed (i.e., reliability, initiative, work relations, training needs).
  • Develop communication skills and promote departmental relationships to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participates in on-going committee and other educational programs to enhance patient care.
  • Verifies patient identity in compliance with compliance for Identity Theft Policy.

Position Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of medical insurance verification REQUIRED.
  • 2+ years of medical insurance verification PREFERRED.
  • Ability to read and understand insurance explanation of benefits and managed care contracts.
  • Telephone and communication skills.
  • Excellent multitasking skills.
  • Detail oriented and organized.
