Duties

  • Greets patients/residents, verifies demographics, and registers/schedules patients/residents.
  • Creates electronic files, scans, and routes necessary forms and documents.
  • Edits and captures signatures on necessary paperwork.
  • Collects co-payments, pre-payments, and payments on account balances.
  • Addresses and resolves registration-related issues such as work queue errors, denied insurance claims, and database maintenance.
  • Schedules patient/resident appointments and procedures, obtains and coordinates referrals, conducts pre-authorization, arranges interpreter services, checks in/out patients/residents, and offers enrollment to additional resources.
  • Collaborates with nursing team and providers to coordinate appointments and manage recall and waitlists.
  • Operates multi-line telephones and may serve as a switchboard operator.
  • Additional duties may include preparation and coordination of charts, organizing supporting provider documents, discussing pre-payment responsibilities, initiating and collaborating on patient/resident financial assistance, tracking patient/resident visits, managing health information management on patient/resident accounts, working on weekly and monthly reports, compiling, distributing, administering, and scoring assessments, coordinating Telemed appointments, provider and schedule maintenance, charge entry/billing and verification, reminder calls for appointments, hospital admission, making copies, sending faxes, and ordering supplies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One year of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
  • Customer service skills essential.
  • Six months' customer service experience desired.
  • May require BLS for certain locations and/or settings.
