Duties

  • Greets patients/residents, verifies demographics, and registers/schedules patients/residents.
  • Takes care of related paperwork, creates electronic files, scans, and routes necessary forms and documents.
  • Educates patients/residents and captures their signatures on necessary paperwork.
  • Affixes financial responsibility and/or assists with arrangements while adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Collects co-payments, pre-payments, and/or payments on account balances.
  • Works through the registration work queue to address and resolve issues specific to registration, including work queue errors, denied insurance claims, and maintenance of the registration database.
  • Schedules patient/resident appointments and procedures, obtains and coordinates referrals, conducts pre-authorization, arranges interpreter services, checks patients/residents in/out, and offers enrollment to additional resources.
  • Collaborates with nursing team and providers to coordinate appointments to meet patients'/residents' needs.
  • Coordinates provider schedule, resolves work queue issues, manages recall and waitlists.
  • Operates multi-line telephones and may serve as a switchboard operator.
  • Prepares and coordinates charts, organizes supporting provider documents, discusses pre-payment responsibilities, initiates and collaborates on patient/resident financial assistance, tracks patient/resident visits, manages health information management on patient/resident accounts, compiles, distributes, administers, and scores assessments, coordinates Telemed appointments, maintains provider and schedule, charges entry/billing, reminds patients/residents of appointments, handles hospital admissions, makes copies, sends faxes, and orders supplies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One year of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
  • Customer service skills essential.
  • Six months' customer service experience desired.
