Patient Access Representative
About the Role
The Patient Access Representative is a detailed customer service position in a fast-paced atmosphere. This role provides a warm welcome to each patient and family member presenting for service. In addition to customer service functions, the Patient Access Representative is responsible for accurate patient registration, including patient identification interviews, verification of patient demographic and insurance information, real-time insurance eligibility checks, and precise entry of this information into the system.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; prior equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of diploma
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, including human relations sensitivity, listening, and telephone etiquette
- Ability to promote and maintain good patient relations and patient confidentiality
- Computer and accurate keyboarding skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Epic experience, specifically ADT and Prelude knowledge
- One year of experience in healthcare or patient registration
- Overall knowledge of third-party payors, hospital policies, and business office procedures
- Medical terminology knowledge
- Typing speed of at least 50 WPM
