About the Role

Grace Health is a faith-based, federally qualified health center (FQHC) providing primary healthcare services to underserved, underinsured, and uninsured individuals. Responsibilities

  • Open office daily and provide an adequate reception area environment for all patients.
  • Update patient’s demographic and insurance information at each visit.
  • Communicate and interact effectively with patients, families, physicians, and peers to maximize successful patient outcomes.
  • Answer telephone calls courteously and direct calls appropriately.
  • Monitor the schedule for workflow and patient wait times.
  • Create new charts and encounters through electronic registration.
  • Obtain proper patient identification and pictures, including any custody/guarantor documents.
  • Register each patient to create encounters electronically while obtaining and inputting correct patient information.
  • Collect co-pays and receive cash and check payments.
  • Verify insurance coverage and information for each patient.
  • Check EHR tasks and handle requests and jobs assigned therein efficiently.
  • Close clinic as assigned.
  • Cover the patient check-out and scheduling position for breaks, lunch, and other absences.
  • Provide spiritual care for the patients.
  • Perform all aspects of the sliding fee process.
  • Perform encounter audits and be proficient in PM and EHR software.
  • Embrace a team-based approach to patient care, understanding that each role is important to success.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and coordination skills to provide quality patient care, including communication with community organizations, health plans, facilities, and specialists.
  • Understand and embrace the concept of population health management and proactively address the needs of patients and families.
  • Demonstrate skills and knowledge necessary to communicate effectively with vulnerable patient populations.
  • Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities to ensure high-quality care.
  • Participate in the review and evaluation of practice performance and help identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in Grace Health's advocacy program.
  • Follow all organizational policies and procedures, including administrative, clinical, quality assurance, and personnel policies.
  • Maintain satisfactory attendance, including attendance at meetings and completion of assigned tasks.
  • Maintain timely documentation of all work assignments.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Keep the supervisor informed regarding attendance and job assignments.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to multitask.
  • Work effectively and efficiently.
  • Work cooperatively with providers, administration, and peers.

Requirements

  • Support and advance Grace Health's mission while satisfactorily performing each essential duty.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Organized work habits and computer skills.
  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • At least two (2) years of medical office experience preferred.

  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
