About the role
The Patient Access Representative plays a crucial role in ensuring a positive patient experience. They are responsible for creating a welcoming environment for patients, families, and visitors, and performing tasks such as pre-admitting, admitting, and registering patients.
Responsibilities
- Create a positive impression for each patient, family member, visitor or staff member while performing tasks related to pre-admitting, admitting, and registering patients.
- Interview patients or relatives to obtain necessary demographic and financial information and record it in the electronic record system.
- Verify insurance benefits, explain financial requirements to the patient or patient representative, and collect the outstanding patient portion before or at the point of service.
- Serve as a mentor to new associates and assist in new employee orientation.
Requirements
- Office experience in a healthcare environment, medical terminology, ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Windows XP, Windows 7, and website search engines.
- A high school diploma is required.
Physical Requirements
Sedentary work - prolonged periods of sitting, exerting up to 10 lbs of force occasionally.
