Patient Access Representative

About the role

As a Patient Access Representative at Amery Hospital & Clinic, you will assist patients in admissions, check-in, registration, and scheduling functions, as well as address inquiries via telephone, email, or fax. The Care Model Process (CMP) guidelines are to be utilized and followed for all workflows.

• Help check-in patients for their procedure/appointments and direct them to the appropriate department/clinic/hospital location.
• Print wristband and apply to patients per protocol.
• Print patient labels as needed.
• Perform bedside registration in ER or inpatient unit.
• Provide appropriate forms as designated by clinical staff and/or standard practice.
• Receive and enter appropriately all patient forms dropped off for completion; determine if the patient needs to be seen to complete the form and/or have the patient complete their portion of the forms.
• Route forms according to standard practice.
• Collect and post patient co-pays/deductibles/balances consistently and accurately.
• Assist patients with any follow-up appointments at check-out.

Schedule

Casual/on call: Hours may vary depending on department needs. Shifts could include day and evening hours along with weekends and holidays.

Requirements

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Minimum one year experience in a hospital or medical clinic setting or equivalent.
• Experience in a customer service setting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Experience with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of a position-related 2-year program, such as Medical Administrative Specialist or Medical Office Specialist.
• Experience in the EPIC computer system.
