Responsibilities

  • Gather and input patient demographic and financial information into the computer.
  • Monitor and correct information in the computer for accuracy of billing and clean claims.
  • Complete and verify all registration information, collect patient’s financial responsibility.
  • Enter status changes in the computer and verify patients' insurance.
  • Utilize computer systems and clerical skills to accomplish position responsibilities.
  • Assist patients in completing required forms, including informed consents, and refer to appropriate sources for further information.
  • Complete all work queues for quality improvement and collections daily, including updating errors found in daily assigned reports.
  • Collect co-payments, deductibles, and co-insurance.
  • Determine appropriate priorities for activities based on work demand and provide outstanding customer service.
  • Report to work on time as scheduled, complete expected registrations based on position and shift in the expected timely manner with accuracy.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned and appropriate to the position within the patient access departments.
  • Effectively transfer essential information and responsibilities during transactions of shifts, working as a team to achieve a desired goal.
  • Obtain all appropriate information required for the registration of inpatients, outpatients, ER, and Pre-Admissions, inputting this information into the computer system.
  • Check daily emails for any communication with Supervisor, communicate any financial arrangement issues to Patient Access Supervisor.
  • Respond to all reasonable requests in a timely manner and communicate concisely and effectively with others.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 - 3 years’ experience.

Qualifications

Proficient in utilizing computer systems and clerical skills.

Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures to assist patients in completing required forms, including informed consents.
