About the Role

The Patient Access Representative ensures a smooth initial patient experience by handling critical registration functions that support clinical treatment, billing, reimbursement, and patient satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in healthcare access, customer service, office, or financial settings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in healthcare access, customer service, office, or financial settings

Responsibilities

  • Accurately complete patient registrations in the HIS system, ensuring demographic and financial data integrity for clinical and billing purposes
  • Verify and review insurance benefits and financial clearance for all payors at each encounter
  • Collaborate with the Centralized Referral Center to confirm prior authorizations
  • Research and resolve registration discrepancies related to demographic, clinical, and insurance accuracy
  • Adhere to state, federal, and system policies on compliance, integrity, and ethical registration practices
  • Generate accurate patient estimate letters, attempt cash collection when applicable, and process payments for account posting
  • Practice AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) in all patient interactions
  • Review medical orders for compliance with government, hospital, and clinical protocols
  • Complete clinical screenings for specified modalities to ensure patient safety
  • Utilize computer systems efficiently to support workflow processes
  • Obtain insurance eligibility and benefit information via phone, RTE, or web to provide patients with cost estimates
  • Maintain an accurate cash drawer, including reconciliation and deposit functions
  • Demonstrate strong typing and data entry skills with high accuracy
  • Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Perform detail-oriented work with a positive attitude, both independently and as part of a team
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
  • Perform other duties as assigned by department supervisors or managers
