About the Role

The Patient Access Representative is primarily responsible for completing an efficient and organized registration, admission, and insurance verification of all inpatients and outpatients. This role ensures excellent customer service and accurate information collection, informs patients of their rights as determined by HIPAA regulations and Harris Health System policy, and ensures all accounts contain comprehensive and accurate data to provide for timely billing and optimal reimbursement.

Responsibilities

  • Complete registration and admission processes for inpatients and outpatients efficiently and accurately.
  • Verify insurance information and ensure comprehensive data collection for billing and reimbursement.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with patients, physicians, family members, and coworkers.
  • Inform patients of their rights under HIPAA regulations and Harris Health System policies.
  • Handle detail work accurately and rapidly, multitasking effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work with minimal supervision and manage stressful situations with professionalism.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of experience in a customer service-oriented environment.
  • Above-average verbal communication skills, with heavy public contact.
  • Proficiency in PC and MS Word.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Ability to work weekends, flexible hours, and overtime as needed.
  • Eligible for telecommute opportunities.
