About the role
Performs patient access, registration, admitting, and financial counseling activities, including patient pre-registration, registration, admittance, and screening for alternative government funding. Assembles all data and documents required for complete patient registration.
Responsibilities
- Complete insurance verifications and authorizations.
- Enter patient demographic information and use department applications for eligibility and authorization.
- Assess patient financial responsibility and collect co-pays and deductibles at time of admission.
- Screen admissions and inform referring physician offices, patients, and families about hospital policies and payment methods.
- Obtain and document funding information from patients and provide information on available funding resources.
- Use payer resources and websites to explore and assess eligibility; initiate third-party referrals.
- Administer financial assistance policy and procedures to determine patient eligibility for discounted prices or charity care.
- Collaborate with all areas of the revenue cycle to identify and resolve issues or barriers.
- Enter fiscally related information into databases and maintain fiscal records and files.
- Respond to requests for information and inquiries related to patient access processes, policies, or other related information; research and resolve customer problems.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED (General Studies) upon hire.
Pay
$16.06 - $22.69 /hour
